Reception and Placement Program

The Reception and Placement Program begins before refugees even arrive; first by furnishing and stocking an apartment for the soon-to-arrive clients. On the day of their arrival, ECDC staff members meet them at the airport, take them to their new home, and provide a culturally appropriate hot meal. In the next 90 days we help them apply for federal and state benefits, sign up for English classes, enroll in employment programs, register their children for school, and access appropriate medical care. All of this is accompanied by continuing cultural orientation to ensure independence and self-sufficiency.
